Weather:The
race will take place under skies equally couldy and sunny.
It is liklier to be cloudier as the day progresses, and conditions
worse for the later riders (that is, the top ranked riders).

                Wind:
The wind will be light at the beginning, but threatens to gust
violently near the summit of the Alto d'Abantos.

                Temperature:
Moderate temperatures of around 21° C at the departure point
and 14° C at the summit.

                Yesterday
Manolo Saiz, the Directeur Sportif of the Once team was ejected
from the Vuelta by organizers of the tour--that is, Unipublic,
as well as the International Cycling Union--for his behavior
in entering into a dispute with tour organizers as well as a
T.V. cameraman, whom he evidently threatened and insulted. A
                  bad start for Once today...
                Gold
Jesey holder Isidro Nozal will depart just after rival Roberto
                  Heras, in the last position.
                Jose
Manuel Paestre (lanterne rouge, that is, the last place rider)
is the first of 160 riders to start.
                The
climb is very irregular with a small descent at the 6km point.
Beginning with a sharp turn followed by an extreme right corner,
the course launches immediately into steep gradients, reaching
                  17°.
                This
climb will require constant changing of gears, in whicn superior
equipment and good technique will be equally important.
                The
first rider leaves at 14:08, Dqvid Millar at 15:03.
                After
a passage on cobblestones on a "false plateau", the
course enters directly into a serious climb.
Throughout the course there are many cobblestone passages.

                In
2nd half Nozal loses time to Heras with each turn of the pedal.
The incredible is happening--Heras is winning the tour, on this
                  easier portion of the course!
                The
sensation of this tour: Heras has just taken the Gold Jersey
from Nozal; he takes the stage to beat Nozal by well over the
                  necessary 2 minutes.
